South Pasadena High School, located in South Pasadena, California, fielded its first team in the 2013 competition year under the leadership of head coach Oliver Valcorza. After barely missing the cutoff for State competition, they came back the next year to take seventh in the entire state. In the years since, South Pasadena has fielded individuals at the national level on a consistent basis, sending a total of 14 team members to the competitions at Garden Grove CA, Anchorage AK, Madison WI, and Frisco TX, and garnering a total of 73 medals -- 14 bronze, 17 silver, and 42 gold.
