The 2007 Curriculum had no specific theme, but, instead, was a collection of several areas of study.

Social Science

The Social Science focused on the History of the Ancient World, mirroring USAD's topic from 2004-05. Students examined the cultural, economic, and military histories of several civilzations.

Civilizations studied included:

  • Ancient Egypt
  • Mesopotamia
  • Ancient Greece
  • Ancient Rome

Economics

The Economics section dealt primarily with the fundamentals of economics, with an emphasis on the modern economy of East Asia, which was an independent research topic.

Areas of study included:

  • Fundamental economic concepts
  • Microeconomics
  • Macroeconomics
  • The modern economy of East Asia

Literature

The Literature section (note that there was no language portion of the test, to avoid prejudicing against competitors whose native language was not English) focused on the novel Siddhartha, by Herman Hesse, as well as British poetry.

Featured poems included:

  • Shakespeare’s "Sonnet 73"
  • Wordsworth's "I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud"
  • Shelley’s "To a Skylark"
  • Tennyson’s "Tithonus"

Science

The Science topic for 2007 was anatomy and physiology, mirroring USAD's topic from 2006.

The guide focused on the following fields of Anatomy:

  • The history of anatomy
  • Bones and muscles
  • The nervous system
  • The organ systems
  • Glands and hormones

Mathematics

The math section was traditional mathematics. The guide focused on:

  • Calculus
  • Algebra
  • Trigonometry
  • Basic math
