Deer Park High School was a strong competitor in Texas Academic Decathlon in the late 80's and early 90's, winning a state championship in 1989, where they finished second in the nation. Since then, they have become a recurring state competitor, placing mostly in the middle of the pack in 2000's. They are also known for their excellent subjectives.
