Olympia
Winning seven of the last nine state championships, Olympia is the most successful school in Washington of the last decade. The only school with more state championships, their crosstown rivals Capital, no longer competes. Perhaps the team's single most notable sucesses were the "sweeps" of the honors division at the state and regional competitions in 2005 as well as its 6000-point victory at state in 2006. In the last 3 years, Olympia's scores have improved, as have the scores of its local opponents. Despite low nationals scores, Olympia has averaged one medal at every national competition it has participated in, remarkable by Washington's standards. Olympia's most sucessful decathlete to date is Jonathan Spatola-Knoll, a rare four-year decathlete. Invited to the inaugural World Scholar's Cup (though unable to attend), he is likely the highest individual scorer in state history with 8434.4 points.
