There will be separate tests for art and music, each 50 questions long. Each student should have his or her own music CD, Art Booklet, and Opera Compendium (there, the cat's out of the bag!). This is for several reasons: a) it allows for better individual preparation; b) the CD is a private label and cannot be obtained anywhere else; c) U.S.A.D. holds the exclusive reprint rights to the music and art selections - these may NOT be duplicated; d) VERY IMPORTANT - ALL TEST QUESTIONS ON ART AND MUSIC WILL COME FROM FOUR SOURCES EXCLUSIVELY: THE ART BOOKLET (PICTURES AND TEXT), THE OPERA COMPENDIUM, THE MUSIC CD, AND THE ART AND MUSIC SECTIONS OF THE SUBJECT AREAS GUIDE. Purchasing study materials from commercial companies is a waste of money.
A REMINDER - HIGH SCHOOL TEXTBOOKS ARE SUFFICIENT TO STUDY MATHEMATICS, ECONOMICS, AND ANCIENT CIVILIZATIONS FOR THE ACADEMIC DECATHLON.
Convey to coaches that for optimum learning it is essential that each student has her or her own copy of the novels, Study Guide, Resource Guide, Subject Areas Guide, Art Booklet, Music CD, Opera Compendium.
Our new Materials Brochure goes out next week. Shipping charges to continental U.S. have been reduced to 8%.
We mail the Materials Brochure to our entire database. If you are not sure we have an updated list of your coaches, please send this to Frann ASAP.
There it is! If you have any questions or comments, please give me a call or email.
Finally, thank you for your continuing efforts to make the Academic Decathlon the premier competition in your state. I know how much time and effort you and your coaches give to make this a worthwhile experience for students. Thank you for your dedication and service. You are making a difference in the lives of kids!
