Peter Stanton is the coach of the Ketchikan High School Academic Decathlon team in Ketchikan, Alaska. He has coached the team since 2014, and was a member of the team from 2005-2009. His best performance as a decathlete was placing second overall at the Alaska state tournament in 2009 with an individual score of 7,611. During Stanton's fourth year of coaching, Ketchikan won the Alaska state tournament for the first time, then went on to become Division III champions at nationals.

Stanton has a bachelor's degree in history from Georgetown University and a Master of Arts in Teaching from the University of Alaska Southeast. He teaches history at Ketchikan High School.
