Medal count[edit]

we should just do competitive individual medals, not the participation and team medals, it really creates a disparity in what the actualy medal count is.Stanley Tree 22:34, 11 March 2008 (PDT)

  • While agree with the logic here, I just have to wonder... What is the point of medal counts? This seems to just be an anomaly of the Texas pages(2007 and 2008). Just for fun or...? - Adam 05:43, 12 March 2008 (PDT)
  • IDK, I think it was Jon's idea ( I do think it's kinda cool, just for kicks), but if it's there, I just don't see the point of all the medals ever known to the human raceStanley Tree 16:37, 12 March 2008 (PDT)
    • Certainly NOT my idea...I thought it was kind of silly myself. I can't seem to find any reference to the medal count idea before Kort's 2007 TX State addition.----Collegebookworm 19:13, 12 March 2008 (PDT)
    • Ah, I apologize, I shoulda known such a kooky idea's was Kort's :bStanley Tree 19:22, 12 March 2008 (PDT)

Addendum...[edit]

WTF is up with the medal count stuff? This is looking extremely ridiculous and superfluous. Who cares if teams are tied for number of medals? Just list them alphabetically if that happens (that's how ties in medals are handled, or should be handled). And actually, I think it's silly to have the thing at all. None of the other state pages have medal counts except for these two Texas pages (2007 and 2008). The whole things is just so bloated. Adding in all this ties stuff just makes it worse (imho). It reminds me of the Constitution drafts and all the esoteric nomenclature associated with it. /rant - Adam 21:40, 29 May 2008 (UTC)

I agree, too. I was ok with the medal count, and if Kort wanted to organize by the way he did, then that's fine. I awarded a point for each medal (5 for gold, 4 for silver, etc.) and used that to place everyone. I think it's way too much. THe medal count is a cool thing, but that entire other thing is pointless.Stanley Tree 00:13, 30 May 2008 (UTC)

  • If we really want to rank them, we should add in the other fourth and fifth place finishes (FloMo had at least 3, but probably more, since I never bothered to look, from File:TexasState2008.pdf.---Collegebookworm
  • Oh crap, I totally forgot I had all the rankings. I will add those in soon, I just did the overall top 5. That will be updated by the end of the weekend (unless Jon just wants this to add points for FloMo ;))Stanley Tree 17:40, 30 May 2008 (UTC)

Tables[edit]

Peoples, if you could, try and use the table generator at http://acadec.awardspace.com. It's not hard to use, makes everyone's life easier, and brings consistency to the site (something that is sorely needed). Thanks! If you have any questions, just put them on my talk page - Adam 18:38, 3 March 2008 (PST)
