Any score for Acton-Boxborough?Stanley Tree 19:28, 23 March 2008 (PDT)
So the preferred template is the one with the lighter blue heading? i.e. the one on the site that you can copy and paste?Stanley Tree 16:44, 12 March 2008 (PDT)
hey, could you possibly free my user page? i wrote something that i guess pissed gil off (it was my own attempt of being funny but i guess he wasn't really as anti-bush as i woulda hoped). nonetheless, i'll promise to keep that out, but if you could, please let me edit it again, thank you --KelvinLam 13:08, 22 February 2008 (PST)
Perhaps we should indeed keep the basic Navbox, so that we can link pages of the same competition level together - perhaps have a Nationals Navbox that contains links to all. We could also just have a basic info template, like we have for the State competitions. Also, what do the red ! things indicate? Are they a new feature to warn of potential bots?---Collegebookworm
- Well, we do already have a nationals infobox. Why not just add to the bottom of that links to all the previous competitions? If you want to work on that then go for it. It shouldn't take too much work. And also I really have no idea what the exclamation point indicates. - Adam 13:53, 2 March 2008 (PST)
interwiki transclusions
are set in the "transwiki" table, you have sql access right gil 01:56, 10 March 2008 (PDT) (wp is set back to wookiepedia)
regional individuals
Hey, sorry about the deletion of Jon's info, but I thought there was a position of no individual scores for regions? I know that any info we can get is good stuff, but how far can we go on that? If need be, I can give almost all the info for our region scores, but I assumed we didn't use any of them.Stanley Tree 12:01, 18 March 2008 (PDT)
- I think he undid it because "we don't delete any scores, once added". Otherwise, I don't even know why we keep them - I certainly don't recall when/why I added them to ADSIC...Collegebookworm
- Jon's got it right. While I think that it does clutter the page a bit, I think it should be kept. The reason being that they are just scores for top Honors, Scholastic and Varsity instead of including scores for Art, Economics, Essay, etc. I do think this needs to be discussed more though. That is, we need to talk more about the organization of scores: whether or not we provide links to to different regional pages, whether we have it all on one page, how much to include, etc. - Adam 14:54, 18 March 2008 (PDT)
- Yea, I understood the deletion of scores after I did it was stupid, so I sincerely apologize. I was just being a stickler/ass. BTW, we need to change the main Texas regionals scores page to this year.Stanley Tree 16:21, 18 March 2008 (PDT)
- best policy probably varies by states. for big states like az/ca/tx the best is probably to have a main informational page with links to years, then in each year a list of state-qualifying teams, with links to individual regional results as available. something structured like
Regionals/California -> Regionals/California/2008 -> Regionals/California/2008/LAUSD -or- Regionals/Texas -> Regionals/Texas/2006 -> Regionals/Texas/2006/Region_X -kxt
mass templating
were you using a bot or something unholy? gil 21:50, 24 March 2008 (PDT)
- Yeah, I didn't feel like doing it all by hand so I hacked together a perl script to do it for me. Same for the schools category. I suppose if I keep doing stuff like that though I ought to register a bot. - Adam 21:56, 24 March 2008 (PDT)
- did you look at the pywikipedia bots? they've got a framework for edits there. you can also set your own bot flag temporarily (i think that would work, there's a rc_bot field in the recentchanges table so i'm guessing special:recentchanges doesnt figure out bot edits by looking at the user_groups table) gil 22:35, 24 March 2008 (PDT)
errors
there is an error on this page in the bronze scholastic score. ill report more to you if found and i cannot fix. --Jbroms 01:05, 31 March 2008 (UTC)
another wiki table bot run
i ran the bot again, i guess it missed all the nationals pages because of how it crawls special:allpages. Special:Contributions/Gilbot for the goods gil 17:51, 5 May 2008 (UTC)
- I was wondering about that and was thinking that I'd actually run a quick script to do it if you didn't get it done soon. - Adam 21:57, 5 May 2008 (UTC)

Hmm...it appears to be broken when using the color feature, but is fine with the non-color feature.---Collegebookworm
- In what way? It seems to be working fine for me. Although, it DOES assume that the first three rows are all different scores and as such, colors the first row gold, the second silver, and the third bronze. Is that what you're talking about? Or is it actually screwing up the output? - Adam 02:00, 8 May 2008 (UTC)
OK, here's an example of what I'm typing:
Year School Nat'l Finish
2008 Acton-Boxborough Regional High School TBD
2007 Acton-Boxborough Regional High School 7th
2006 Acton-Boxborough Regional High School 6th
2005 Acton-Boxborough Regional High School 9th
2004 Acton-Boxborough Regional High School 4th
2003 Acton-Boxborough Regional High School 5th
2002 Acton-Boxborough Regional High School 8th
2001 Acton-Boxborough Regional High School 9th
And here's what's coming out...
Year | School | Nat'l Finish |
---|---|---|
2005 | Acton-Boxborough Regional High School | 9th |
2004 | Acton-Boxborough Regional High School | 4th |
2003 | Acton-Boxborough Regional High School | 5th |
2002 | Acton-Boxborough Regional High School | 8th |
2001 | Acton-Boxborough Regional High School | 9th |
{| class = "wikitable sortable" width="500"
! Year !! School !! Nat\'l Finish
|-
| {{Gold|}} ||
|-
| {{Silver|}} ||
|-
| {{Bronze|}} ||
|-
| 2005 || Acton-Boxborough Regional High School || 9th
|-
| 2004 || Acton-Boxborough Regional High School || 4th
|-
| 2003 || Acton-Boxborough Regional High School || 5th
|-
| 2002 || Acton-Boxborough Regional High School || 8th
|-
| 2001 || Acton-Boxborough Regional High School || 9th

Fixed
Was a problem with the regex. It's fixed now. I think sometime soon (maybe even tonight) I'm going to make it so it can color rows smartly. e.g. if someone tied for gold, they are both colored goldinstead of just the first one. - Adam 02:49, 8 May 2008 (UTC)
Time to depreciate "adsic"
[http://www.google.com/search?q=adisc] I saw the acronym elsewhere and thought it was a typo for adsic. I was wrong. gil 08:31, 21 June 2008 (UTC)
- That site scares me. Especially since at the very bottom in the mature forum there's a thread for, "masturbating in plastic pants". WTF? - Adam 08:02, 22 June 2008 (UTC)
- WTF indeed. If I had known this site existed before, I would have never coined the acronym. Perhaps we need to look into whether or not to do something about this. KortEverettJackson 00:31, 23 June 2008 (UTC)
- I bought the domains meatspin.me and meatspin.us recently, how about moving the site to one of those? gil
- Err, not a good idea.... May have some lulz, but not practical for the serious biz. I did a minor lol at the idea though. KortEverettJackson 03:36, 18 August 2008 (UTC)
- Ha! You did? Somehow, this does not surprise me. I think you should only move it if we can do something similar to your links of the day. We could have spins of the day. Something like, you spin me right round, but... less 80's. - Adam 09:34, 18 August 2008 (UTC)
State/Nebraska 1997
Hey Adam! You still getting messages about your user page, right?
Where did you get the info that Omaha North won the 1997 Championship? I'm trying to determine if the 1997 Nationals and Burke semi-puffery page are wrong or if the champion actually was Burke. CB...(ö) 06:29, 20 November 2009 (UTC)
- I always get things mixed up in regards to this... I have a friend that was on the Omaha North team 1997-98 and 1998-99. He said they won in '97, but I guess he meant the 97-98 season. My fault. I really should have double checked things better. - Adam 10:40, 4 December 2009 (UTC)
ADSIC Upgrade
Hey, could you please upgrade the mediawiki to the latest version? There are many things I want to do that don't work in this version. Madcap 04:54, 30 January 2010 (UTC)Madcap
