Team History
Vanden High School first fielded an Academic Decathlon team in the early 1990's. The first few years found success for the team in qualifying for the State competition almost every season, but it wasn't until 2007 that the team hit its first major milestone: winning the title of 2007 California Division II State Champions. They would go on to repeat this achievement two years later by becoming the 2009 California Division II State Champions. In 2021, the Vanden High School Academic Decathlon team would again repeat as California State Academic Decathlon Champions, this time as the 2021 California Division III State Champions. Despite its three state championship titles, the Vanden High School Academic Decathlon team has yet to advance to a national championship competition.
