Hello! My name is Will Bishop; I post on Acadec Talk as AK_WDB.

Academic Decathlon[edit]

I competed for West Valley High School in Fairbanks, Alaska all four years of my high school career (2005-2008), and went to nationals in 2005, 2007, and 2008. I was also the highest scorer in the state of Alaska in 2006, 2007, and 2008.

I worked for DemiDec in 2007 and 2008. In 2007, I wrote the Science Power Guide (Infectious Diseases) as well as part of the Super Quiz Power Guide (Civil War), and was also a beta tester. In 2008, I wrote the Social Science Power Guide (the history of Mexico), the Social Science Cram Kit, the Social Science Focused Quizzes, and the Social Science Scimitar Exams.

I attended Dartmouth College, graduating in 2012 with a degree in Mathematics and a minor in Public Policy, and was very involved in the Dartmouth Outing Club.

I am now back in Alaska working as an economist for the state government in Anchorage. It's good to be home. I also spent two years in Juneau, and one and a half years on the east coast as a research assistant to the National Bureau of Economic Research. Since moving back to Alaska I've been a speech, interview, and essay judge each year at the Alaska state competition, and was also lucky enough to be an interview judge, test proctor, and behind-the-stage worker at the 2016 Nationals in Anchorage.
