ADSIC contains no record of the following states: Delaware, North Dakota, or Vermont. According to USAD1, none of these states have participated since 1999. At most, two of these three states have never competed. USAD reached its peak in 1992, when 49 participants (possibly including the District of Columbia) competed in the National Finals. Note that Vermont, North Dakta, or Delaware might have competed in other years.

[edit] International Competition

After the 1984 summer Olympics in Los Angeles, California, Academic Decathlon founder Dr. Robert Peterson aspired to make USAD an international competition. The annual USAD Nationals remains open to international teams, but only four schools from other countries, excluding online international competitors, have participated. As of 2009, none of these schools have competed more than once.
