Region III |
Region I or the Panhandle Region, is the northernmost region of the Texas Academic Decathlon. Region I is arguably the largest region in landmass (barring the "landmass anomaly" for small schools), but with one of the smallest number of competing schools - just nine in 2014.
Lubbock High School is a prominent power in Region I as well as Texas. Since 2001, Lubbock High has lost only three titles (2001 due to disqualification, 2003 to Lubbock Monterey, 2010 by a slight margin to Lubbock Coronado). Lubbock High also won a state championship title in 2002, though not without controversy.
