Team Events

After three years in a row of Texas winning Nationals (1984-1986), California's comeback was extraordinary. California won every event except Essay and Interview. In Essay, California tied for third with two other schools. In Interview, California placed ninth. Texas won Essay and placed second in Mathematics, Science, Social Science and Economics. Science

The Houston Chronicle archive says Pearson (TX) received Bronze in Honors Science. The medal printout does not list Pearson anywhere on the Science page and lists Ghorbani (TX) receiving Silver in Honors Science. BUT the scoresheet printout shows Dulles honors (confirmed in other events to be Ghorbani and Pearson) getting 860 and 840 in Science, which are actually the second and third highest scores in Science in the entire competition. It appears that the medal printout accidentally omitted Pearson's Bronze in Honors Science, which raises questions about the completeness of the medal printout sheet.
